Appreciating Paper Flowers

When I first started testing my hand at making paper flowers, I tried a hybrid tea rose from Tiffanie Turner’s book, The Fine Art of Paper Flowers.  I didn’t think much about how long it took me or how long it would take to make other kinds of flowers. I was just simply experimenting to see what it was like and if it was something I’d like to continue doing.  Today, my flowers are a lot more complex with details and number of petals. Every part of the flower is important to me. How the petals are colored and shaped, how the center looks, the bottom of the flower, how I should finish off the stem, should there be leaves and what’s the best way to make them.  There’s a lot of details. When I make my flowers, I love to add color to the petals to achieve the perfect look. Petal by petal, each one gets colored. All of these steps take time. As a paper flower artist, I think it’s definitely important to let my customers know that I put a lot of work into the flowers that I make.  I care about each flower and so I make each one with love.

How do you appreciate a paper flower?  Each paper flower should be treated as a piece of art, because that is what they are.  Each one is unique and special; no one is the same as in real nature. As they are paper, and unlike real flowers, they should be kept away from water.  We all know what happens when water touches paper. Also unlike real flowers, paper flowers should be kept away from direct sunlight as this may cause fading in the colors.  Treat them nicely and they would love for years to come.

Why so pricey you ask?  Not at all actually. There’s a lot that goes into each flower.  Some may take me a couple of hours, some might take even longer than that.  That’s a lot of time and my time is important as time is important to you. Ultimately, I’m selling you my passion, I’m selling you quality, I’m selling you a piece of me and my goal is always to bring you a smile.  I want to bring you amazement and beauty that will last you for years. All together added, it is time, material, quality, beauty and a piece of artful joy.
